Here’s how one runner beat his personal records – one belly breath at a time.

I never grow tired of hearing real-life stories about the immediate difference SAT techniques produce. I asked student athlete Dan Santino, from St. Ignatius High School in Chicago, to share his experience with SAT in his own words.   “This fall, I was really excited to run my senior season of cross county. I even set a goal of earning my first All-State honor. The season started off pretty well, but my performance at times seemed to plateau. Maybe it was a combination of muscle soreness in my back and just needing to get to the next level, but I didn’t quite know how to improve. After investigating the SAT process, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Tom. Looking back, I was skeptical for sure, but was willing to try anything for the sake of improvement. I distinctly remember the muscle-testing results before activation, and then seeing them after. Immediately after activation, I felt loose. There was no tightness, and I felt peaceful after “belly breathing.” The next day we had an invitational race, and I felt the best and was the most focused during that race. I ended up finishing 5th, right behind some of the nation’s best runners, 7 seconds off my personal best. I became a believer as the results were seen immediately for me! As the season progressed with activation and SAT, I gutted out some races and achieved personal records to include Chicago Catholic League Champion, IHSA Regional Champion, and finally I earned my first All-State honor in cross country, placing 24th at the state meet. Activation techniques will be a constant part of my routine from now on.” How is activation a part of your routine? Let us know in the...

Be-Activated Integration Workshop Series – Level 1

Presented by Douglas Heel   Get trained by the Master! Douglas Heel is coming to Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL to teach his Be-Activated technique in this 2-day workshop.  The fundamental principles of breathing and movement drive each of us. Defensive patterns develop which then create muscle limitations that can restrict activity, strength and range of motion. Be-Activated technique incorporates a series of simple muscle resistance and flexibility tests that provide a base measure. The manual techniques are applied and functional tests are repeated. The results are measurable and immediate, but what is most important is the feeling the body has returning to its ideal state of movement. Learn and feel how these changes in your body and mind can improve athletic performance, bring you to a calm, focused and parasympathetic state, while preventing and reducing injury. Come join Douglas on May 6-7 and he will take you on an unforgettable journey.   When:  Saturday May 6th 2017        8:30am – 4:30pm CST and Sunday May 7th, 2017           8:30am – 4:30pm CST Where: Edward Hospital 801 S Washington St Naperville, IL 60540 Cost: Before Friday April 7th, 2017                       $649 After Friday April 7th, 2017                          $699 Contact: Joanne Janota joannejanota@gmail.com   Doors open at 8:00am both days.
